So what about 5.8GHz?

The 5.8GHz band is indeed available for analog video transmissions, up to 25mW EIRP. Unfortunately, we have been testing several compliant 5.8GHz systems since 2008, and have not yet found any that offers sufficient performance for FPV flight. Range didn't exceed around 300m on those systems, which isn't enough to be able to fly FPV safely with common models. We however don't give up, and will offer a range of products as soon as we find something satisfactory. Meanwhile we do have some supply sources, so if you have an application which requires another band than 2.4GHz and can cope with the current limitations, we will gladly prepare you a custom system.

I control my model with a 2.4GHz radio, can I use your products?

Unfortunately not. Using a 2.4GHz wireless camera on a model that is controlled by a 2.4GHz R/C system presents a considerable interference risk. The radio can cause sporadic lines on the video that make it hard to safely judge what the model is doing in FPV, and unless the camera is placed very far away from the receiver on the model there is a risk of loss of control even at short distances.
We recommend keeping a module or simple radio that operates on the common R/C bands (35, 36, 40, 41, 72MHz etc) to use for FPV.

Why do all your systems transmit only 10mW?

Because in Europe, like in most countries in the world, the maximum radiated power allowed for analog video transmitters in the 2.4GHz band is 10mW. Unlike in the US, it's not possible to get past this limit by getting an amateur radio license. And as it's illegal to sell radio equipment that doesn't comply to the CE rules, we can not sell more powerful transmitters.

But I'll never have enough range!

Of course you will! Since we are into FPV, we've made it our goal to show that 10mW are totally sufficient to enjoy FPV flight within reasonable safety distances, for example through our videos.

Why don't you sell any 900MHz, 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz gear?

Because those bands are not open for public use in Europe. And just like for power, it's legally punishable to sell radio equipment that can operate in unauthorised bands in Europe, and more importantly in Switzerland where we're based.

I'm looking for the Gyrocontrol but can't find it on your site...

The Gyrocontrol was the first commercially distributed head tracking sensor made for FPV, that we developed in 2005. The components it used are not available anymore, so we had to stop production. None of the other offers we got to test satisfied us performance wise, so we decided not to sell any alternative until we develop a replacement ourselves, hopefully for the 2010 season.

I have a particular project, and your products don't really fit...

Contact us and tell us about your project! The products on our shop are primarily designed for FPV flight and to suit most people, but we have resources and hardware to build hundreds of different combinations that fit the needs of most photo/video projects, wired or wireless, as well as custom electronic developments. Have a look here for an overview of some cool projects we're participating in and of our partners!
